For some, part of the attraction of a cat lies in the fact that they can be quite independent creatures that usually require less maintenance than the average dog. However, if you are actively looking for a loving and sociable cat who will be happy to spend time with you, then you should consider one of the following ten breeds.

Burmese

Burmese cats are often described as having a “silk coat” (because of their athletic, firm body and wonderfully soft fur). Available in many different shades, from hot chocolate to exotic blue, they have strong, expressive voices that require immediate attention. The average Burmese is a gamer and active until old age, and can even be trained to do things like pick up a toy or follow basic commands. If your ideal cat is vocal, energetic and deeply interested in human behavior, a Burmese could be the perfect addition to your household.

Manx

Although you may be surprised that a Manx cat has a heel instead of a tail (or no tail at all), these unique cats have extraordinary personality traits that make them very adorable. They are deeply attached to their home environment, which makes them ideal pets if you are not sure that you can let a cat go outside and you can expect your manx to be a curious and courageous animal that likes to be near you.
Rex

Rex cats have an even more unusual appearance, as they have a very short, very curly coat with huge ears that adorn the size of their face. The eccentric appearance of a Rex is endowed with a truly wonderful layout and will fill you with affection and enthusiasm. These cats love to impress their owners with crazy antics and they are passionate about the game.

Girl

You may have heard of ragdoll as these cats have been specially bred to be exceptionally compliant when kept by their owners. This feature makes them very comfortable to cuddle, and your ragdoll will probably be the perfect cat. However, if they do not cuddle with their owners, ragdolls like to play and can often be trained to do basic tricks.

Siamese

As long as you don’t mind owning a cat that tries to have long conversations with you while you are preparing dinner, cleaning up the house or trying to work at the computer, a Siamese could be a great companion. Besides being very noisy, these cats love to curl up on a hot ride or turn everyday activities into play opportunities.

Persia

Some find the classic, flattened faces of Persian cats beautiful, while others think that these cats look quite crushed. However, it is the love you are looking for, then a Persian should definitely make your shortlist. These cats are very relaxed passive companions who like to be held and stroked.

Maine Coon

If you own a Maine Coon, you need to brush regularly, because these cats have long hair, which must be carefully protected from mats and tangles. Besides being really beautiful, Maine Coons have pockets full of energy, an intense interest in social interaction and a penchant for the game.
